In this section you will find details of the 34 men from our community who lost their lives in the First World War.

The information on the boards displayed in the Memorial Gardens, the Railway Gardens and on this website will be updated to show details of the next fallen hero.

  • 1. Freeland Short, the first casualty from the Great War to come from Sturminster Newton, died on14/09/1914. For information about the life of this soldier please click here.
